What is Telecare?
Our Telecare services mean that you receive help at the press of a button. The service uses two pieces of equipment that come included in your Telecare package;
A plug and play base unit – this connects to your existing landline and a mains socket. Your telephone then plugs into the back of the alarm unit and works as usual. This unit has a powerful microphone and loudspeaker in order to communicate with our monitoring centre.
A wireless, waterproof Telecare pendant button – the alarm button is very discreet and lightweight and has been designed with your comfort in mind. It can be worn on an attachment round your wrist or neck.
How do I use my Telecare services?
Once your alarm is plugged in and set up, your Telecare services are ready to use – help is literally a button press away. If you need assistance, our service will work in the following way:
? Press the button on your alarm pendant
? This sends an alarm call to our monitoring centre who will attempt to speak to you over the loudspeaker on your alarm unit to find out the problem. If you are not near the unit, this is not a problem, our team will simply move onto the next step.
? Our team will then contact one of your emergency contacts or the emergency services to attend.
Our team are here 365 days a year to monitor your Telecare alarm. Whatever time, day or night, they are here to help you get the assistance you need.
Telecare services: how do I join?
To join our services at Telecare Choice, there are three simple steps:
? Order your Telecare services.
Simply choose between our monthly or annual packages and then place your order. You can do this by calling our customer services team on 0800 635 7000 or by ordering your Telecare alarm online. At this point, we require your delivery address and payment details. You may want to arrange a keysafe at this point.
? Fill in your New Customer Form
Complete your New Customer Form online or via the paper copy you will receive with the alarm. At this point we will ask you for your personal information and details of your emergency contacts. We also ask for your medical information such as illnesses or medication so that we can pass this information onto the emergency services should we need to. This means that the paramedics will arrive informed and ready to treat you.
? Plug in your alarm
Usually, we require 12 hours to upload your New Customer Form. You will recieve an email or a phone call confirming that we have received your form. Once we have processed your details, the alarm is ready to plug in and use. This is a simple three step process – it’s really as simple as plugging a telephone in! You will also need to test your Telecare alarm. Instructions for these procedures are included with the alarm. Your personal alarm is now ready to use!
