The days are getting shorter and the cold weather is beginning to strike…..Winter is on the horizon. This can be an intimidating time of the year for the elderly but we believe that our Telecare Alarm System can be of help.
With the winter comes cold temperatures and dangerous weather conditions, making it harder for the elderly to get out and about to do their shopping and visit friends. Inside the house, due to increasing prices, it is all too common for the elderly to have to choose between heat and food.
This then means that the elderly are more at risk of illness or of a fall whilst at home. A Telecare Alarm System can ensure that the elderly always have somebody to call for help and that they are given a confidence boost because of this knowledge.
Telecare Alarm System
The Telecare Alarm System has been developed using the latest industry technology to help ensure that it is quick and simple to use. When you order an alarm you will receive the Tunstall base unit and a pendant which can be worn around the neck or wrist.
The pendant is waterproof so there is no need to remove it when you take a bath or shower. The device also has a range of up to 100m so that you are still covered whilst out in the garden – which can become slippery during the winter months.
When your alarm system arrives all you need to do is plug the base unit into your telephone socket, with your telephone then being plugged into the unit with the adapter provided. Plug the unit into a power socket and you are now ready to make a test call with our 24/7 monitoring centre.
Our monitoring team are highly-trained and will be just a push of a button away from helping you at all times – day or night, all year round.
If you feel like something is wrong, are unwell or have a fall at home then you just need to push the red button on your pendant or base unit. This sends an alert call to the monitoring centre and a member of the team will speak with you over the base unit’s built-in loudspeaker.
Emergency Contacts
Once a member of the monitoring centre has answered the alert call, they will assess the situation before arranging help in the form of emergency contacts.
Emergency contacts are selected by the alarm user during the ordering process and are often made-up of family members, close friends or neighbours. The closer the emergency contact lives to user’s home the better as they can be on the scene within minutes.
Should the alarm wearer have a serious accident then the monitoring centre will also call for the emergency services on their behalf. The paramedics will also be given their medical history, allergies and relevant prescriptions by the monitoring team so that they know what they could be dealing with once they arrive.
After the calls for help have been made, the monitoring team member will speak to the user once again to help keep them calm and updated about the situation. He or she will do there absolute best to ensure that the alarm user feels safe and reassured that everything is going to be okay.
