With the London Marathon only a few days away, we discover inspiring runners who will be taking part, as well as a lady who has reached 100-years-old but isn’t ready to put her feet up yet! In other news, the Korean yoghurt ladies continue spreading joy!
100-Years-Old & Still Going Strong
For many people reaching 100-years-old is a big enough achievement in itself! However, Lisel Heise, from Germany, has decided that she isn’t ready to take things easy just yet! Lisel has decided to create a new chapter in her life, and has taken on the challenge of running in a local council election in her home town Kirchheimbolanden. Her campaign is focused on getting the towns outdoor swimming pool reopened, which has been closed since 2011.
Lisel has previously felt her comments and efforts in the community have been ignored, but stated: “Now that I’m 100, I’m in a different position. Now I have the chance to open my mouth and say something.” And hopes that she can “finally do something for young people.”
Yoghurt Delivery to the Delivery
The Korean Yoghurt ladies have been a familiar sight since the 1970’s. The ladies deliver yoghurt directly from their mortised fridges to people and business about the city! South Korea has a rapidly ageing population, and with that comes concerns for the elderly, particularly a concern about them being isolated and lonely! Checking up and assisting the elderly members of their society has become a key part of their job!
