There are current concerns that home care visits to elderly people are far too short for them to be treated with the dignity they deserve. Often the visits are rushed, which for elderly care is difficult when they are needing someone to understand their needs.

15 minute care visits
The NHS have now banned 15 minute visits, and councils have been told by NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) that visits should not be scheduled for less than half an hour.
Alongside worries that elderly care has not been providing the right amount of dignity when; being washed, clothed and fed properly, there are also concerns that the elderly will also be more at risk of injuring themselves and ending up in hospital.
Elderly care with dignity
The way in which we are treating elderly people is shocking, and as pointed out in The Express, it is not all to blame on the care staff themselves; who are paid a low wage to fulfil a very demanding job, with not enough time to do it in.
If we want older people to enjoy as much independence as possible we need to have the services they require on offer and ensure it is of a quality that we would want for our own loved ones.
Telecare alarm systems
Like Virginia Blackburn, from The Express, we at Telecare want to support the elderly in choosing to stay at home and not going into residential care,
“If we made sure they were doing all right in their own homes then there is less of a chance they will have to live in an institution.” – Virginia Blackburn.
Our Telecare Alarm Systems ensure that they have someone highly trained to talk to when they need help. The Telecare Personal Alarm is easy to use and keeps help at hand to the elderly or disabled; at a push of a button they can reach our staff 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
