Covid-19 Vaccine rollout in England extends to 44-year-olds
The UK’s vaccine program is going full steam ahead as it reaches 44-year-olds. With half the UK’s adult population already vaccinated, the UK stands 7th in the world for the percentage of the population having received their first jab.
Not only has the UK reached people as young as 44 for the vaccine, but it has also been successful in vaccinating people below that age with varying health conditions that could increase their risk of serious consequences from contracting coronavirus.
Marcus Rashford Begins Budget, Basic, and Family-Friendly Meal Plan Project
In support of his #EndChildFoodPoverty campaign launched in September 2020, footballer Marcus Rashford has joined forces with Michelin-starred chef, Tom Kerridge and created, ‘FULL TIME: Get Cooking with Marcus & Tom’.
Since the pandemic, demand for food bank services has increased by a shocking 121%. Marcus and Tom are attempting to combat this with simple recipes that anyone can make. These are recipes that do not require an arsenal of kitchen equipment, and recipes that use affordable ingredients.
The recipes have been available to pick up in various forms from selected supermarkets every Sunday morning since 25th April. The recipes will even include a QR code linking through to the ‘FULL TIME’ Instagram page with short-form tutorial videos, hosted by Tom, Marcus, and a selection of celebrity guests and families.
Our Subway Baby
Our Subway Baby is a children’s book written by Peter Mercurio. In 2000, Peter’s partner, Danny, found and rescued an abandoned baby boy on a New York subway platform.
The couple went on to adopt the baby boy and the book was their creative way of explaining to their son, Kevin, about his origins.
“I can’t imagine my life if it didn’t turn out this way,” says Danny, now aged 55. “My life has become much more enriched and full. It has changed my worldview, my perspective, my whole lens.”
Peter, Danny, and Kevin’s story crops up every now and then over the years to warm the hearts of readers, but every year a new trip or memory is added to the tale. An important piece was added recently when same-sex marriage was legalised in the USA. The same judge that had suggested adopting Kevin to the couple went on to marry them too!
