Providing Birmingham with Telecare
We make a special effort to ensure that our life-saving Telecare service can be accessed by anybody who needs it, in Birmingham and across the United Kingdom.
With this in mind, we provide an affordable service which can be paid for in different ways. Alarm users can choose to pay monthly or annually, depending on how they like to arrange their finances.
We also offer free next working day delivery to ensure that our customers are protected within 24-hours of making their order.
Our equipment is easy to understand to simple to install. Installation and set-up can be completed within a few minutes by the alarm user or a loved one.
How does the Telecare Service work?
Our Telecare service works by using two easy-to-use devices, the alarm base unit and the wearable pendant. Once the red help button has been pressed on the base unit or pendant, an alert will be raised at our 24-hour monitoring centre. Our highly-trained monitoring team work all year round to ensure that we provide the highest quality of service to all of our alarm users.
During an emergency situation, a member of the monitoring team will communicate with the alarm user through the loudspeaker on the alarm's base unit. They will ask the alarm user what has happened and how they're feeling, before taking the appropriate actions. Commonly, this involves calling for family and friends, known as emergency contacts, and the emergency services if they are required. Help will then arrive at the alarm user's home.
Telecare Base Unit
> Can be installed within a few minutes. The unit needs to plugged into the telephone socket and a power socket. The alarm user's telephone is then plugged into the back of the box.
> Has a built-in microphone and loudspeaker. This allows clear and crisp communication between the alarm user and the monitoring team.
> A 40-hour back-up battery will power-up during a power cut.
Telecare Pendant
> Can be worn around the alarm user's neck or around their wrist. The alarm user can choose the most comfortable option for them.
> The pendant is waterproof, which means the alarm user can keep it on in the bath and shower.
> The pendant also has a range of around 100 metres. This allows the alarm user to continue being protected outside in the garden and throughout their home.
Keysafes at Telecare Choice
Keysafes are metal boxes which are attached to the exterior wall of the alarm user's home. They can be used to store house keys behind a secure security code, rather than leaving them under the doormat. The code is chosen by the alarm user, and should only be shared with family members and our monitoring centre.
This code can become very important during an emergency situation. If the alarm user has fallen or required medical attention, the monitoring team will pass their keysafe code onto the paramedics. They will then be able to access the alarm user's home, even if the door is locked. Without the code, they may have to wait until a family member arrives with a key.
Annie, Sunderland
I felt so much better coming out of hospital to a Telecare button. I'd had my knee replaced and was vulnerable to falls. It made me feel safer.
Dan, Cardiff
We've found that the alarm hasn't just benefited Mum's life but ours as well. We worry less knowing she can let people know if there's a problem.
Robert, Nottingham
The alarm has made a huge difference to Mum’s confidence and it definitely brings me a lot of comfort.
Dr. Spratt, Worcestershire
For patients at high risk of falls, living independently at home can be a real struggle. Telecare alarms help give them that extra confidence by making sure help is always readily available.
Pricing Plans
Telecare Choice offer two simple price plans to ensure that you can get your personal alarm up and running as soon as possible.
Of course, both of our price plans come with free 24-hour delivery so that you can have your new alarm and pendant installed sooner, rather than later.
Once installed the alarm user will be covered by our 24-hour Monitoring Team. Should they need help, day or night, all they need to do is simply push the Telecare pendant and a member of the team will respond within seconds.
The Monitoring Team will then take appropriate action to ensure the user gets help - whether this is contacting a relative or the emergency services. Ensure help can gain access to the property with a Keysafe.
